Go Native, ridden by Davy Condon, wins the 2009 WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle

Go Native, winner of the 2009 WBX.COM Fighting Fifth and Christmas Hurdles, has failed in his bid to become the first winner of the WBX Hurdling Triple Crown.

Noel Meade’s seven-year-old stood to land connections the £1 million bonus on offer from World Bet Exchange for winning Britain’s three Grade 1 2m races in the same season but finished well beaten behind Binocular in the Champion Hurdle on the opening day of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival.

Sent off the well-backed 11/4 favourite to win the final leg of the WBX Hurdling Triple Crown and scoop the biggest bonus in National Hunt racing in the process, Go Native could only finish tenth.

Kribensis, who achieved the feat in 1990, remains the only horse to win the three races which form the WBX Hurdling Triple Crown in the same season.
