Solwhit Favourite for WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle

17th November 2009

The Charles Byrnes trained-Solwhit is favourite for the WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle with the sponsors after his victory at Punchestown on Sunday.

In defeating Muirhead and Hurricane Fly by 2 ½ lengths and a further 1 length in the Dobbins and Madigans At Punchestown Hurdle Solwhit currently trades as favourite for the WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle. Both of Solwhit’s most recent victims are also entered in the WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle and could seek revenge at Newcastle a week on Saturday.

Punjabi is second favourite for the 2009 renewal having previously won the 2008 WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle from Sublimity on his seasonal reappearance at Wetherby and the pair are set to renew rivalries on November 28th.

World Bet Exchange also offer two markets relating to the WBX Hurdling Triple Crown: “Will The First 2 Legs Be Won?” and “Will It Be Won?”

Currently, it is 2.84 to back that the same horse will secure victories in the first two legs at Newcastle in the WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle and at Kempton in the Christmas Hurdle while it is 30.0 to back that the WBX Hurdling Triple Crown is won for the first time.

Iain Turner, PR and Sponsorship Manager for World Bet Exchange said, “I am surprised to see Solwhit head the market for the WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle despite his victory at Punchestown on Sunday. Punjabi is a confirmed runner for the race whilst Solwhit remains only a possible.

With the entries having now won a combined 30 Grade 1 races this looks to be the highest quality renewal of the WBX.COM Fighting Fifth Hurdle to date and the strength of the race is shown by the fact that the 2009 Champion Hurdler is only second favourite.”

Sponsors bet :- Solwhit 2.76 (to back), Punjabi 2.94, Starluck 5.9, Hurricane Fly 6.2, Binocular 7.2, Zaynar 8.2, Sublimity 9.4, Al Eile 20, Aitmatov 21, Muirhead 21, Donnas Palm 22, Voler La Vedette 22, Go Native 22, Hardy Eustace 22, Won In The Dark 22, Khyber Kim 27, Raise Your Heart 29, Cape Tribulation 34, Blue Bajan 36, Alfie Flits 38, Basalt 38, El Dancer 38, European Dream 40, Sir Boreas Hawk 40 and De Valira 44.
